Plan the retirement of company servers, engineering workstations and storage equipment with e2e. Our recycling and data sanitization services help IT teams turn an approved decommissioning plan into an organised collection and disposal project.
Define what is ready to leave service
Your IT team owns production shutdown, migration, backup validation and approval to retire equipment. Once that approval is in place, e2e can assess the physical assets, storage media, collection arrangements and recycling requirements. Identify any devices still under lease, warranty return, legal hold or internal retention.
List chassis and media separately: a server with multiple disks needs a clearer inventory than a single asset-tag entry. Include storage shelves, loose drives, controllers and any removable modules that can hold data.
Storage decisions need a media inventory
- Map each drive serial number to its parent server or workstation.
- Identify HDD, SSD, NVMe and other media rather than requesting one method for everything.
- State whether drives may leave the site before sanitization.
- Set an exception route for failed disks, locked devices and inaccessible storage.
- Agree the final report structure and who signs off reconciliation.
Coordinate the physical handover
For equipment in server rooms or controlled facilities, specify access approvals, loading routes, packing requirements and the collection window. Confirm whether racks, rails and accessories are included. De-racking, electrical isolation and production changes must be assigned explicitly rather than assumed as part of a recycling collection.
For distributed sites, separate the project into approved batches. Record what was collected, what remained onsite and why. This allows your IT owner to close inventory exceptions before final disposal approval.
Connect recycling and sanitization
Working media intended for reuse can be assessed for software-based data erasure. Failed media or media your policy requires to be destroyed can follow an agreed physical drive destruction route. The equipment and its data do not need to follow the same outcome.
e2e offers Pan-India collection; site logistics, any onsite work and reporting are confirmed after assessment. Share equipment lists and drive counts before requesting a collection date.
Questions from corporate IT teams
Can you recycle servers with drives still installed?
Include every storage device in the inventory and agree its sanitization or destruction route before collection. e2e will assess handling and reporting requirements for the complete scope.
Do you shut down or migrate our production servers?
Production shutdown, migration, backups and release approvals remain with your authorised IT team. Any additional physical work must be specified and agreed separately.
